MFW - Expo Showcase Soon!

Coming to the Florida Polytechnic University Game Expo on December 2nd, 2023!

Modern WarFairy is a shoot-em-up (or shmup, for short) that features a fairy trying to find their lost love. Or something like that. The lore of shmups has always been rather bland, hasn't it?

This project was interesting, though. A 2-week endeavor to make something out of just a few spare assets lying around after my group exploded was quite the experience and a wonderful review of Unity. Breaking down a game into its technical aspects is definitely the dullest part of game development (and bashing your skull in a wall as you can't figure out why the collisions aren't working before realizing you've set up a statement that will never be true - totally not speaking from experience here), but it's definitely always intriguing to understand how simple most concepts actually are. This game, like many others, is a lot of math. It's truly impressive how some of the more complex patterns are actually easy to make once you figure out the logic behind them, and who knows? Maybe the next pattern you'll wind up making will be as good or better than Twin Cranes or Scarlet Meister once things like that become sorted.
